Hardware Setup Guide

Step-by-step guidance for setting up payment hardware correctly.

Updated: 2026-07-25

Before You Begin

Confirm you have all components (terminal, cables, power supply), a stable internet connection, and your merchant account credentials. Read the setup guide for your specific device, as steps vary by model. Hardware compatibility depends on processor, gateway, device model, software configuration, and merchant setup.

Installation Steps

Power on the device, connect to your network (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or cellular), pair it with your merchant account, configure receipts and tipping if applicable, and run a test transaction before going live.

Testing and Go-Live

Process test transactions in small amounts, verify receipts print correctly, confirm the authorized transactions appear in the correct batch, separately verify settlement and bank funding on the provider schedule, and train staff on normal operation and basic troubleshooting before handling live customer payments.

Prelaunch Verification

Record device model and serial number, verify merchant provisioning and software version, confirm secure network access, test card-present acceptance, and document escalation contacts.

Funding Is a Separate Check

A successful authorization is not a bank deposit. Verify batch closure and settlement records first, then reconcile actual bank funding according to your provider schedule.
